The Chef Bought the Wrong Stock

One kind belongs in soup. The other means owning part of a company.

“I heard you own stock,” said the chef.

“One share,” said the visitor.

“Lovely. Add it to the soup.”

Please don't.

Soup stock is used in cooking. A company stock is a share of ownership in a business. The same word has two different meanings.

Company shares can lose money. Soup can spill. Only one belongs in a bowl.
