A Goal Can Be Small

Kai’s marker goal costs $6. Small goals count, too.

Six colorful markers in a box beside a six-dollar savings goal

Kai wants a $6 set of markers. He has $2.

“That counts as a savings goal?” his friend asks.

“Why wouldn't it?”

A savings goal is something you keep money for. It doesn't have to cost a lot.

Kai adds $1 when he can, then another $1. Later, he adds $2. Now $2 + $1 + $1 + $2 = $6.

It takes a few weeks. Some weeks he adds nothing.

A small goal can help you practice keeping track. It isn't a race, and saving isn't always possible. Kai's goal fits the money he has.
