A Jar or a Savings Account?

Both can hold savings. The rules, risks, and ways to get your money are different.

A jar lets you see your coins. But a jar can get lost or stolen.

A savings account keeps money with a bank or a similar organization. Some accounts pay interest: extra money under the account's rules.

Accounts aren't all the same. Some charge fees. Some have rules about taking money out or how much you must keep inside. The ways they protect money can differ, too.

Ask a trusted grown-up to explain a real account. What does it cost? When can you use the money? How is it protected?

Keep account details private. Don't share them with strangers.
